Spring Valley Sports!

SPRING VALLEY SPORTS
Fall, Winter, and Spring

Spring Valley High School has many sports that are offered here. Cheer leading, soccer and football are during the fall. Swimming, wrestling and basketball are offered in the winter and track, baseball, and softball are during spring. In order to play these sports you have to have a GPA of 2.0 or above. Some of these sports are popular and some are not. All of these sports are mentally and physically challenging. All of these sports require year round training and conditioning. Getting along with everyone and seeing each other as a family on your team will help you work together and to communicate during an event. These players and cheerleaders take a lot of time into their practices to make sure they know what they’re doing and how to make it look good. Going through pain in these sports is often the way to the pathway to excellence. If you want to succeed in these sports or life, you have to fight for what you want. Winning isn’t handed to you, you have to work hard. The sports at Spring Valley have a lot of fans who believe in them, but the ones who are playing, doing events, and having competitions have to believe in themselves to.
Cheer leading requires a lot of strength when you base so it can be steady. You stunt a lot throughout football games and basketball games. Another thing you need strength for is tumbling, so your arms don’t get weak. When you do multiple tumbling passes at the games and in a cheer routine you need to be in good shape so you don’t get tired. When you’re too tired as you tumble you could mess up and fall. If you’re not in shape you won’t be able to hold a stunt in the air for a long period time. Learning a routine for competitions takes time and effort for the fact that you have to be together with your stuff and it has to look clean. It can’t be sloppy because if it is you’ll get points taken off. A lot of people think cheer leading looks easy until they go out and try what we cheerleaders do, and then they start to understand that it’s not what they think it is.
Soccer, this is a competitive sport, the Spring Valley High Schools girls and boy’s soccer team work hard throughout soccer season and all year round. The soccer players are consistently moving in their games and practices. They run up and down the field a lot to try to get the ball. They all have a position they play in their games, but they switch out so someone else can play. Soccer plays use shin guards to protect them from getting hurt so they don’t get injured. They use cleats so they can have more traction on their feet while they run. Being in shape is important for this sport also because if you’re not in shape you’ll get tired easily and you’ll get put out of the game because you have no power left. Soccer has many rules in the games and at their practices; they’re not allowed to touch the soccer ball unless they are the goalie. They’re allowed to touch the ball because they have to keep the other team from scoring. Staying hydrated is the most important thing while you’re playing a game and when you’re practicing. You don’t want to get dehydrated and pass out, if you’re not dehydrated that bad you’ll end up starting to feel sick. Nobody wants to see their teammate get hurt. Soccer isn’t a really noticeable sport here at Spring Valley, but if you’d go to one of their games maybe you and everyone else would understand how much work they put into for staying fit.
Football, becoming a professional football player is a dream of many young men around the country. While many dream of the opportunity only a few get to make it a reality. If you're serious about being a football player and think you have what it takes. The game was developed with particular aims in mind: specifically, teamwork, discipline and respectability, which defined both the way the game is organized and played. Football players are required to wear a lot of padding, shoulder pads and helmets. Mouth guards is one of the big parts of protect them from getting injured it protects their teeth from getting knocked out. The game involves a lot of strength and physicality. One man struggles against another when they say hut, then all of them will try to get the person carrying the ball. Also at the same time, finesse, agility, and brilliant strategy are requisites for success and a team lives or dies solely on how well they work together as a team, as a unit. During the summer they have two-a-day practices and they usually last for quit awhile. As soon as they kick off for the game to start the pressures on, it’s up to the boys of how well they play to see if they can win.
Wrestling takes the most endurance, strength, physical, and mental toughness out of any sports. If you want to be a potential state placer or win state then it might as well be required to wrestle and lift year round. The training is rigorous. You get broken down mentally by sprinting, wrestling live, circuit training, and lifting. When you can’t keep going on or think of mental toughness for your wrestling match is six minutes long if the scores tied. The winner’s determined by who gets the first take-down. If the score’s still tied then each person goes top and bottom. Then if the score’s still tied after that then theirs a sudden death ride out, if the bottom man doesn’t get away in thirty seconds then the top guy wins. If the bottom man wins then he wins the match. A take-down is established when one person is on top, the others on bottom, and the person on top has control. This is worth two points and if the other person gets away they are rewarded one point. When someone holds someone on their back at more than a 45° for a 2-4 count you’re two points, but for a five count you’re rewarded three points. If you lock your hands or do an illegal move the opponent is awarded one point. This can eventually make you automatically lose the match if done enough. The only other way to give your opponent a point is if you get called for stalling a few times. The safety gear they have to wear is head gear and a mouth piece so they don’t get a concussion and their teeth knocked out.
These are the fall sports; the winter sports are swimming, wrestling, and basketball. Spring sports are track, baseball and softball. The sports I talked about in this blog are just fall sports. Thanks for reading! Leave a comment if you’d like.
