Basketball

Basketball is a sport I have played my whole life, I enjoyed every single minute of playing. It’s a team sport and definitely a sport that you must devote hard work and time to. It is not just a one man show; everyone on the team has to put in the effort and help or else there is no point in playing, you’ll just lose. So if you’ll work hard and work together then your team becomes like a sisterhood or a brotherhood. Basketball doesn’t just build character, it reveals it! How you act after you win/lose a game and act towards other on and off the court says a lot about who you are. My past coaches always used to say “Win or lose, show sportsmanship” that’s why I love the game, because no matter what be good to others is number one. Basketball is a game I will forever love and forever miss.

 

 

Swimming

                Swimming is a fun sport. Everyone thinks the kind of swimming I do is playful swimming.  Swimming is a very competitive sport. It is more so in girls than guys. I swim at least 3,000 yards a day, if not more. Swimming is very intense especially the time neat regional’s and states. This year, the teams are only allowed to enter two people in each event. In the past, you could enter as many people as you could. This swim year is going to be different but I believe we can do it.

Spring Valley Football

Spring Valley Football    

The Spring Valley football team had their best season in school history. Starting off 0-2 against Cabell Midland and Huntington High people were quick to lose faith in their school. But the Timberwolves would prove they had more heart then people had thought. Winning all but one other game in the regular season they would finish the regular season 7-3. Then the real football began. The team that has never won a game in the playoffs, and would prove wrong the school and a lot of other people who would doubt them. Drawing Wheeling Park in the first round of the post season looked pretty difficult. Spring Valley showed up with a mission to make history, and went home victorious with their first ever playoff win. Then came the rematch with Cabell Midland in the second round. In a tear jerking loss to Cabell Midland 28-26. Although the upsetting loss, Spring Valley showed more heart battling through adversity than ever before. They class of 2013, truly made history and forever more it will stay. Now let’s get ready for next year.

Baseball

Baseball is a very simple, but at the same time a complex sport. It is simple because it is just fielding, hitting, and throwing a ball. It is complex because you have to have the right mechanics and techniques to make the right play properly. You have to work hard and practice to use these techniques and mechanics the correct way. Also baseball can be tiring. Even though the fielders don’t constantly move around or anything, the pitcher is always moving. To be a pitcher you have to have a lot of stamina and arm strength to excel in this position. Baseball is fun.
