Decadence

by: Pen Tempest

We strive to be untouchable,
Yet we need to be touched;
We never realize what we have,
and what we want is never clutched;

Over and again do we make our mistakes,
unfortunately our life is the toll that it takes;
Yet still for our decisions do we show no remorse,
because bold was our attempt at changing fates' course;

Ruefully we as humans cannot understand,
That our purpose in life is to abide higher demand;
This balance of relations still relentlessly shoved,
Thus proves that true hate comes from those you once loved;

Though once we had hope when our faith was sheer,
We have come to ignore something to cheer;
To one thing do we owe a life so purposeful,
Such a being -pay you mind- is not always so merciful;

So on day of judgement when our defiance is great,
We dare not question of what bestowed us our fate.
