What to do this summer,
What not to do this summer?
There are so many possibilities,
All that I can reach with my abilities.
I can’t wait to be lying on the beach,
A cold lemonade perfectly in my reach,
Water ripples kissing the shore,
Taunting you and leaving you wanting more.
I can run in the lush green grass,
Patiently waiting until I’m part of the sophomore class.
No more homework or waking up early,
Being able to wear my hair natural and curly.
It’s finally time work tank tops and shorts,
Maybe even improve some skills on basketball courts.
It’s time for exercise where you can do nothing but play,
Not sit inside listening to teachers all day.
There’s that fun summer job that some would kill for,
Since absolutely no one wants a summer job that’s a bore.
You can go out and stay up as late as you please,
Not be out at noon and just shiver and freeze.
There’s new shops opening on the boardwalk,
Where you can walk for hours and just talk.
It’s also bathing suit season so you know what that means,
No more shopping for the dreadful jeans.
I have a lot of expectations for this summer yet no plans at all,
I could be in my yard or in California with a beach ball.
Somehow I know it will all fall into place,
After all finishing summer can be the slowest race.
